I happened to pass this shop and saw from their big roadside sign that
they did repair work on trucks. I stopped to check if they would work on my RV. The owner Mike was willing to do an oil change for me so I made an appointment for the following week. I also asked them if they could repair the rusted out section of my exhaust pipe. Although they don't do that kind of work, they partner with a shop that does so they arranged for me to get necessary cutting and welding done at the other shop, and the shop manager Susan tracked down and ordered a short piece of needed 5" exhaust pipe and a 5" U bolt, arranging for the parts delivery to the other shop without asking for prepayment. Very helpful. Mike didn't mind that I provided my own oil and filters, which I already had with me having purchased it all earlier. I had been carrying the oil, filters, and a chrome tail piece for months trying to find a shop that could do everything at a reasonable cost. The Truck Shop did all I expected and more at a very reasonable cost, $146 total, which included the parts charges for the exhaust. I was allowed to wander around the shop and they were working on several big rigs which attests to their reputation in the area, mine was the only RV though they do work on them. Although the shop was a bit cluttered, it is clean. Not only did they do the oil, filter, and water separator change, but they also lubed my chassis (something I'd forgotten to ask for) and checked all the other fluid levels, topping off the antifreeze. They discovered that the separator I'd gotten from Cat was the wrong one, but they got the right one from the local Napa at no charge to me as they traded for the Cat part. Their hourly rate as of Aug. 2017 is $92/hour. They are busy so an appointment would likely be necessary, but there are RV parks in the area. |
