Heavy Duty Truck
Loud squeal at cold start-up and would continue most of the day. Ticking noise. Smell of burning rubber. Fix was new
fan belt and new idler pulley.
Evaluation of Service Performed:
However two days later when I started the truck the loud squeal noise was back. The smell of rubber burning was gone. Called Debbie, told her and
said we were moving on to Asheville, NC and could we take it to a Kenworth service center there, would Concord Kenworth pay for it? Yes, however.
when Kenworth of Asheville called Kenworth of Concord, I received a call from the head service manager at Kenworth of Concord, wanting to talk to
me about this problem. Asked when the truck left the shop, was anything squealing. No I said. But it did two days later when we left the
campground. That was one of the things we had a problem with and they didn't repair. It was the same squeal. But he felt since the truck had left the
shop not squealing then this was something else, so didn't think that Kenworth of Concord should pay for it all, but would pay for some of it. When
we picked up the truck from Kenworth of Ashville.
I didn't see any discount on the invoice. I filled out a MHC Customer Comment Card on KW of Concord. Got a call from the service manager from
Concord on (8-6-2014) saying he did help out on the parts and labor costs with KW of Asheville. I told him I didn't see any discount on the invoice,
but he said it was worked out for less amounts on the invoice. So I guess I did get a discount.
