  Date of Service:   7/6/2008
Work Done on:   Class A - Diesel
Service Performed:   A/C Service, generator service, furnace service, refrigerator service, hot water heater.
Evaluation of Service Performed:   After being laid off from my job in Detroit, my family and I had decided to relocate to Northern Michigan. We had always vacationed up North for the past 10 years and loved the area. The plan was for me to live in the motorhome we have, placed on a vacant piece of property we purchased a few years back. The motorhome had not been used in over a year and with me being down state, there was bound to be a few issues. The plan: I secured a new job in Northern MI and would have to start immediately. I would live in the motorhome until we could find a home within the general area of my new job and the family would then move North. I moved North and when I arrived at the motorhome, nothing worked. I called around to all the RV service centers in the Northern MI area to find someone who would come out and repair the things that needed attention. Not one of them would come out. I finally found a mobile service called Turtle Island Marine & RV out of Gaylord. They came out the following day (25 miles further North)and fixed everything within a few hours, and the repair costs were cheaper than if I were to have taken it into one of the other repair centers.

  Date of Service:   5/4/2007
Work Done on:   5th Wheel Trailer
Service Performed:   Hot water tank replacement and water damage repairs.
Evaluation of Service Performed:   I had my 5th wheel serviced and winterized last fall at a local RV service center in the Waters Michigan area. I store the 5th wheel outside in Northern Michigan over the winter months, and upon my return this spring from Arizona, I found the hot water tank had busted wide open and water had ruined my carpeting! I called the service center that did the winterization 'improperly' and they told me they had no record of the winterization ever being done there. I immediately went back to them and showed them my receipt for the winterization.

After arguing with the service department and getting the run-a-round and so many excuses from them, I finally gave up...The dealer did tell me they would do the labor for free, but that I would have to purchase the new tank! They told me the tank must have been so corroded and that is why it burst! Needless to say, I was not happy about this attempt to push the responsibility off on someone else besides themselves.

Rather than continue on with the headache in dealing with this service department, I found another service center (Turtle Island Marine & RV) to come out and do the repairs. They are primarily a mobile road service business that service the Marine and RV industry in the Gaylord area, but when I called them and told them that I live 28 miles West of Gaylord. The owner said that this was not an issue because he lives in the area I do. He told me that he could get the job done on his way home and would have the repairs done prior to my vacation. He came out, did the repairs, evaluated the damage to the flooring, and any other potential issues I might have, corrected all issues and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. My 5th wheel stayed right in my yard and I didn't have to spend fuel, get the run around from the dealer that improperly winterized my 5th wheel, and I now have a mobile service repair business that will come out, do most repairs I may have without giving me excuses, and I don't have to spend the time, nor the money on fuel to take it into the only dealer in the Waters area who gives me bad service anyway.

I would recommend Turtle Island Marine & RV for any service work...we really needed a company like this in this area for quite some time.
